Joining the Global UGRAD Program offers students more than just academic enrichment—it’s a gateway to cultural immersion, meaningful connections, and unforgettable adventures. It’s a chance to experience a new way of life, engage with people from various backgrounds, and explore the breathtaking landscapes of the United States. For many participants, traveling across the country becomes a defining highlight of their exchange semester. Here are some memorable moments from members of the Spring 2025 cohort.

“After midterms, we decided to visit the iconic city of New York – a place I’ve always admired through desktop wallpapers and movies. Seeing it in person was even more breathtaking. I had the chance to visit the Statue of Liberty, a true symbol of freedom, hope, and democracy. The city’s skyline is absolutely stunning, and it’s clear why it attracts so many tourists. As part of the Global UGRAD Program, I’m immersing myself in new culture and experiences by connecting with participants from all over the world, and it’s been such a rewarding experience. For part of the trip, I stayed in New Jersey and navigated New York City on my own using buses, trains, and the subway. At first, it was a bit overwhelming, and I got lost a few times, but I gradually figured out the system. It’s so different from back home, and embracing these new experiences has been both challenging and exciting.”

“During spring break, I had the chance to travel and explore amazing places! I traveled to Seattle, where I visited Pike Place Market. In Denver, I explored the Botanic Gardens and the Museum of Nature and Science. Additionally, I also went to Colorado Springs, where I visited the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. Having the opportunity to enjoy all these places made my experience very special!”

“I had a chance to travel to Chicago for two days, and we did a lot in that short time! We went to the Shedd Aquarium, which was a must-see place for me! The whole experience was so magical. We watched the dolphin show and were amazed at their intelligence and beauty. We were able to see sharks and even touch starfish. We also visited the Art Institute of Chicago. I saw so many beautiful works of art. This was my second time visiting an art museum, and it was absolutely worth it. I also went to an Aespa concert, which was a dream come true! I screamed so much that my throat hurt the next day. I never thought I’d get to see my idols this close, it still feels unreal! Of course, we also visited The Bean! Chicago itself is a beautiful city with so many tall buildings and places to explore. It is so different from my host city in Missouri. While in Chicago, there was a free fireworks show at Navy Pier. It was a wonderful experience and perfect finale to our trip.”
