Andrea Mendez Colmenares, a fall-semester Venezuelan UGRAD studying medicine at the University of Wyoming, volunteered at a local hospice for her community service hours. Andrea played guitar for residents on several occasions, which allowed her to combine her passion for music, working with the elderly, and cognitive disorders in a meaningful way. This experience has inspired her to create similar programs in her home country and to help educate people on how they can improve conditions for the elderly.
The local newspaper in Wyoming recently recognized her efforts and published her story.
