Last month, Program Officer Will O’Roark and Senior Program Officer Bethany Gilchrist hit the road, visiting some of our Global UGRAD participants in their “natural habitats” – on campus at their host institutions!
Will visited The University of Wisconsin – Green Bay (UWGB), a first-time host institution located in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The town is the official home of the Green Bay Packers, one of the most historical and well-known American football teams in the United States. UWGB is a public university with over 7,000 students and offers a wide range of majors and student services. Will met with three current Global UGRAD participants: Jiaqi Wang (China), Zhanna Ateibek (Kazakhstan), and Leila Pyreva (Russia). World Learning would like to thank Brent Blahnik and Kristy Aoki for their continuous support of the Global UGRAD participants and World Learning.
Bethany ventured further south to the great state of Kentucky to visit with students and administrators at Western Kentucky University (WKU). Also a first-time Global UGRAD host, WKU currently has four Global UGRAD participants on campus: Elza Hasani (Kosovo), Sandy Karam (Lebanon), Zi Yu Lew (Malaysia), and Agustin Valdes (Panama). Highlights of the trip included a tour of the campus grounds, lunch in the cafeteria with the participants, and true ‘southern hospitality’ from our contacts in the international office – in particular, Ashley Givan, Toni Dye, and Stephanie Sieggreen. Thank you for making our first visit a memorable one!
