Fall Semester Site Visits

On October 20 and 21, World Learning Program Officer Will O’Roark had the opportunity to visit two of our host institution partners in Upstate New York. First on his travels, he spent time on campus at Keuka College, one of the newest universities on the Global UGRAD Program. While on campus, Will met with Sony Xang, the Assistant Director of Global Academic Initiatives, and learned more about the university and student life on campus. He also spent time with our current participants – Safa of Bahrain, Asya of Armenia, and Malika of Uzbekistan – all of whom are actively engaged in campus life and enjoying their experience in the U.S.

In addition, Will also visited nearby Nazareth College, a long-time host of Global UGRAD participants. Though a shorter stop on his journey, Will had the opportunity to meet with the Director of the Center for International Education, Dr. Nevan Fisher, and took an extensive tour of the university campus. While no Global UGRAD participants are studying at Nazareth this term, Kostiantyn of Ukraine and Indira of Honduras will be arriving this spring. Nazareth College is more than ready to give them a warm welcome!

In a busy site visit month, U.S. Department of State Program Officer Karene Grad Steiner also hit the road, visiting our four participants on campus at Castleton University in Vermont. On a brisk fall day, Karene spent valuable time with students, faculty, and staff and shared a lovely lunch with the participants at the campus cafeteria. Karene was impressed with all the students had achieved during their short time in the U.S., including many “firsts.”

Thank you to all of our Global UGRAD host partners for the work you do to support our participants on your campuses!
