An Update from Moldova – Ion Mocan

Hello, everyone!

I send you warm greetings on behalf of Moldovan Alumni: Alina Gisca, Mihai Revenco and Angelica Petrov and myself, Ion Mocan.

Six months ago, I came back from the States. In the beginning it was a struggle to adapt again to my country, to places and people.  I am working in a digital agency company and studying at the same time.

Two months ago, Alina Gisca and I applied to a five-day course organized by the British Embassy. We were selected, and had an opportunity to learn about various aspects of starting and managing a social project. We learned about how to form the team, how to come up with the concept, how to raise funds, and how to boost our project with the use of online marketing. At the end of the program, we were offered an opportunity to start a social project and to get funded.

Alina and I, along with six other team members, decided to start a project to help  teenagers from vulnerable families with financial aid for professional training. We want to give them the possibility to become whoever they want to become: bakers, accountants, hairstylists, programmers, etc. This training and the degree will give them a possibility to start their careers, earn an income, and become financially independent.

I hope this project will have good results and will have a positive impact on the lives of the  teenagers.

I hope all Global UGRADs are doing well and can see the positive impact of their American experience in their professional and personal lives. I want to thank again the Global UGRAD team and the U.S. Department of State for everything we had in the U.S. You guys are awesome.
