Advocating for International Exchange

On March 3rd, Amy Fisher Bruey headed to Capitol Hill armed with tales of Global UGRAD Program successes to advocate for U.S. Department of State-sponsored exchange programs. This is a yearly advocacy day organized by the Alliance for International Exchange.

It was an exciting day meeting with legislators from both the House of Representatives and the Senate about the value Department of State-sponsored students bring to the districts and states the Members of Congress represent. In broad terms, international students help U.S. citizens nationwide engage with countries key to U.S. interests, create global networks, and develop mutual understanding. International exchanges are also a vital part of the U.S. economy and encourages future partnerships. Did you know that 395 current or former heads of state participated in a Department of State-sponsored exchange program at some point in their lives? World Learning is honored to implement some of these programs on behalf of the Department of State and hopeful for continued congressional support for these programs.
