In early February, the six, year-long Global UGRAD participants from Montenegro came to Washington, DC for their mid-year workshop. World Learning has worked with the UGRAD Serbia and Montenegro Program since 2007, supporting over 300 students over the past nine years. It may sound cliche, but we may have saved the best six students for last. (Is that a loud ‘Hey now!’ we hear from the Balkans?)
The current Montenegrin students have spent the past few months studying at universities across the United States. To bolster their experiences for their remaining time in-country, the students participated in community service, learned about networking and public speaking, honed their personal leadership skills, and most importantly visited the U.S. Department of State and met with former staff from the U.S. Embassy in Podgorica.
We are excited to see what the future holds for these brilliant Department of State Alumni and look forward to reporting on their adventures in future editions of the Global Gazette!
