New Staff Announcement

World Learning is excited to announce three new additions to the Global UGRAD team!

Melanie Winters joined World Learning in March 2023 as the program officer for the South and Central Asia regions, as well as Fulbright commission partner countries. In her own words:

“Hi everyone! My name is Melanie Winters and I am beyond excited to join the World Learning team! I am from a small town about 40 minutes south of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. My passion for travel started at a young age as I watched my grandparents travel the world. I was an exchange student in Germany in high school and went on to study peace, conflict, and Irish studies at Queen’s University Belfast in Northern Ireland during my undergraduate program. I have a master’s degree in higher education and student affairs and have spent most of my educational and professional career focused in the international education field. I am passionate about cultural exchange and look forward to supporting and encouraging students coming to the United States as well as learning from all of your diverse perspectives! Outside of work I enjoy traveling, camping, kayaking, playing board games, going to concerts and spending time outdoors with my husband and our dog, Liebe.”

Nkechi Ani Igwe joined the Global UGRAD team in February 2023 as the program associate for the East Asia and the Pacific region. In her own words:

“Hello, my name is Nkechi Ani Igwe and I am currently based in Columbia, Maryland. My family is from Nigeria. I am so excited to join the Global UGRAD team and support World Learning’s mission. My background is in non-profit management, international education, and program design. For the last three years, I have owned a business called Healing Grounds Apothecary and practiced reiki and mediumship in Atlanta, Georgia. I have a bachelor’s degree in human services and social justice from George Washington University. I had the opportunity to study in India twice – once as a Gilman Scholar in 2016 and later as a Critical Language Scholar in 2018. Outside of work, you will find me writing books about conquering the dark night of the soul, dancing, rapping, praying, practicing my Hindi, and mentoring at-risk youth.”

Madison Mack joined World Learning in March 2023 as an intern with the Academic Exchange team. In her own words:

“Hi! My name is Madison Mack and I’m an intern with the Academic Exchange Team. Originally from Montclair, New Jersey, I am currently living in Washington, DC as I complete my senior year at American University. My academic focus is in international relations, specifically in global development and inequality, with a regional focus on Sub-Saharan Africa. I recently returned from studying abroad in Italy and am happy to aid others in their academic exchange experience as I know how exciting and important it is. I am actually planning to move back to Italy in the fall of 2024! When I am not in school or working, I enjoy cooking, playing/watching soccer, spending time with friends, and reading. I look forward to meeting you all!”
