#EoPinDC: Global UGRAD Spring End of Program Workshop

Last month, 134 students from over 60 countries and 70 universities around the U.S. converged in D.C. for this semester’s End of Program Workshop. From April 15-18th, they worked together to hone their leadership capabilities, develop their professional skills, brainstorm strategies to cope with reverse culture shock, and learn how to become active and engaged alumni of the U.S. Department of State. In addition, they formed stronger connections as a cohort – though they had been in communication virtually even before arriving in the U.S., the workshop was the first time for everyone to meet in person! As one participant commented, “Motivated young people from different countries around the globe, full of energy and with the exceptional skills, were in one room, working together. The workshop connected us and the experience we shared with each other was very important… Moreover, I made friends with outstanding young people… [and it] helped me to organize my thoughts about my experience and start planning for the future.”

As World Learning staff, it’s always inspirational to spend time in-person with these outstanding young leaders, but particularly as they prepare to transition home and begin the next phase of their journey as Global UGRAD alumni. Throughout our few days together, we were impressed by this cohort’s maturity, focus, and presence during each one of our sessions. We can’t wait to see where the journey will lead them next!
