World Learning Visits Jakarta, Indonesia

Melissa Oppenheimer, World Learning’s Divisional Vice President for Global Exchange, and Jessica Ellerbach, Fulbright Specialist Program Manager dine with Global UGRAD Indonesia alumni. On a recent visit to Jakarta, Melissa Oppenheimer, World Learning’s Divisional Vice President for Global Exchange, and Jessica Ellerbach, Fulbright Specialist Program Manager, had the pleasure of sharing a meal with a wonderful group of Global UGRAD alumni from Indonesia. Dery Rovino, Muhamad Rosyid Jazuli, Rini Mayasari, Dian Mayasari, and Rika Rumiyati all continue to embody the ideals of the Global UGRAD Program as leaders in their professions and communities. While their post-UGRAD lives have included graduate school in New Zealand, the UK, and in the U.S. at World Learning’s School for International Training, they have all returned to Indonesia to further the development of their home country. They hold professional positions consistent with that theme, including in the office of the Vice President of Indonesia, for a start-up focused on providing Indonesians with better nutrition information, with a popular ride-sharing company, and as a university lecturer. All expressed thanks for the Global UGRAD Program and the positive experience it has had on their lives, including developing greater self-confidence, a deeper understanding of the U.S., and an appreciation for the value of community service.
