Each year, it’s always an exciting and bittersweet time when we welcome the academic semester Global UGRAD participants to Washington, DC for our End of Program Workshop (for social media fans, #EoPinDC). This fall, from November 19th-22nd, 114 participants converged on our nation’s capital for three unforgettable days of learning, leadership, and camaraderie – and a whole lot of fun along the way. This is the first time that Global UGRAD staff is able to meet participants in person, and the last opportunity to do so before final exams and the end of the term!
In collaboration with Simon Norton, World Learning’s Senior Director of Youth Programs and our lead facilitator, Global UGRAD staff helped students to think critically about their leadership style through hands-on training and prepare for the reverse culture shock of transitioning to life at home. Participants developed their professional skills through presentations from local entrepreneurs and thought-leaders; they sparked ideas on how to make a difference in their local communities through action planning; learned how to become engaged alumni of the U.S. Department of State; and finally, celebrated diversity and formed stronger bonds with each other through our closing “Take the Stage” event.
